Jahmai Jones

Selected in the second round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels out of Wesleyan High School in Norcross, GA... his late father, Andre Jones, was a linebacker on Notre Dame’s national championship football team in 1988 and played for the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Winnipeg Blue Bombers and NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers... His oldest brother, T.J. Jones (who also played football at Notre Dame), played wide receiver in the NFL. Another brother, Malachi, also played in the NFL and was the 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year in the National Arena League... Was a two-sport star at Wesleyan School in Norcross, Ga., playing both baseball and football... His older sister, Dacia, was an All-State softball pitcher. His younger sister, Jayla, is a former junior Olympian in Equestrian... He lost his dad to a brain aneurysm in 2011 and because of that does a lot of work with the Lisa Foundation raising awareness for brain aneurysms...His favorite college team is Notre Dame – where his dad and brother T.J. played...Raghib "Rocket" Ismail, Andre Jones' Notre Dame teammate and former NFL wide receiver, is godfather to the Jones’ children; four boys and two girls... He would pick a young Corbin Bleu to play him in a movie... If he weren’t playing baseball he thinks he would have gone to culinary school... If he could trade places with anyone for a day it would be Gordan Ramsey.

Spent the first half of the season with Triple-A Norfolk in the Orioles' system, hitting .212 with two homers and seven RBIs in 27 games... was released by Baltimore on June 3, 2022... signed with the Dodgers as a free agent on July 23, 2022 but did not appear in a game

2021

Recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on 8/23 and made his Orioles debut on 8/24 vs. LAA...Appeared in 26 games for the Orioles across two stints with the Major League club: 23 at 2B (19 GS), three as a pinch-runner, and two as a pinch-hitter...Collected his first hit (single) as an Oriole on 8/25 vs. LAA...Slashed .267/.353/.400 (4-for-15) for a .753 OPS in eight road games compared to .115/.164/.135 (6-for-52) for a .298 OPS in 18 home games...Slashed .375/.375/.625 (3-for-8) with two doubles, three runs, and two RBI in four games against the New York Yankees...Stole his first career base on 9/10 vs. TOR; has 106 career minor league steals...Owned a .768 OPS in 70 games with Triple-A Norfolk; had 23 extra-base hits (11 HR, 9-2B, 3-3B) and 35 walks...Ranked as the No. 14 Orioles prospect by Baseball America and No. 18 by MLB Pipeline.

Spent a majority of the year at the Los Angeles Angels Alternate Training Site...Recalled by the Angels on 8/31 and made his Major League Debut that afternoon as a pinch runner vs. SEA...Appeared in three games across two stints with the Angels; two at second base and one as a pinch runner...Collected his first big league hit on 9/26 at LAD, an RBI-single off Tony Gonsolin...Along with Elliot Soto, became the first duo in Angels history to record their first career Major League hits in consecutive plate appearances...According to the ELIAS Sports Bureau, became the first pair of Angels teammates to make their first Major League starts in the same game since 9/24/10 (Mark Trumbo & Andrew Romine).

2019

Spent the entire season with Double-A Mobile appearing in a career-high 130 games...Led Mobile in runs scored (66), tied for first in triples (3), and finished second on the club in hits (113), doubles (22), RBI (50), stolen bases (9), and walks (50)...Invitee to big league camp for the second-straight season...Following the season, played for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League... Slashed .302/.377/.509 with the Solar Sox.

2018

Split the season between Class A-Advanced Inland Empire and Double-A Mobile, batting a combined .239 (115-for-482) with 39 extra-base hits, 80 runs scored, and 24 stolen bases...Named a California League Mid-Season All-Star...Following the season played for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League...Named to the Arizona Fall League All-Prospect Team as well as the Arizona Fall League Rising Stars Game.

2017

Named the Angels Minor League Player of the Year...Named the Angels No. 1 prospect by Baseball America...Spent the season between Class-A Burlington and Class A-Advanced Inland Empire, slasing .282/.348/.446 (146-for-518) with 29 doubles, seven triples, 14 home runs, 86 runs scored, and 27 stolen bases in 127 combined games...Named a MiLB.com Organizational All-Star...Named the Angels Minor League Player of the Month in both May and July.

2016

Split the season between Rookie-Level Orem and Class-A Burlington, appearing in a combined 64 games and hitting .302 (78-for-258) with 20 extra-base hits, 57 runs scored and 20 stolen bases...Named a MiLB.com Organizational All-Star.

2015

Started his professional career with the AZL Angels, hitting .244 (39-for-160) with eight extra-base hits and 16 stolen bases in 40 games...Made 36 starts in center field and two starts in right field.
