Spent three seasons with Gardner-Webb, from 2016-18, although he did not make an appearance as a pitcher until 2017... went 4-6 with a 6.07 ERA in 46 innings over 14 appearances, 11 as a starter, in 2018... struck out 33 and walked 29... made eight appearances in 2017, mostly in relief, and struck out 11 in 8 1/3 innings... appeared in 54 1/3 innings in college... saw time as an outfielder in 2016, when he hit .274 with two homers and 13 RBIs in 51 games... batted .235 with five homers and 17 RBIs in 52 games in 2017 while also working out of the bullpen... had a .367 slugging percentage and a .299 on-base percentage and had 10 games with multiple base hits... enjoyed his best season at the plate as a junior in 2018 when he hit .321 with six homers, 40 RBIs and 21 stolen bases in 58 games.
Attended Pisgah High School in North Carolina, where he played baseball and football... two-time All-Western North Carolina choice by the Asheville Citizen-Times … was an All-WNC choice in football as a kicker and holds the school’s record with a 53-yard field goal… batted .448 with 20 RBIs, 16 steals and a home run as a senior when he posted a .539 on base percentage and struck out five times in 56 at-bats... led the Black Bears to an 18-3 record and the program’s first league title in 47 seasons... earned All-Tournament honors at the Perfect Game Southeast Qualifier after batting .538 with five steals during the event … earned All-WNCAC honors three consecutive seasons… also played for the Mountain Expos travel team
