Jeremy is the son of Gerónimo Peña, who played in the Major Leagues for seven seasons with St. Louis (1990-95) and Cleveland (1996)... during his seven seasons in the Majors, Pena batted .262 (265x1010) with 124 RBIs and 54 stolen bases... played baseball at Classical High School in Providence, Rhode Island, serving as team captain his senior season in 2015... in his high school career, received All-State honors and was a two-time All Division First Team selection... also participated in Track and Field for four years and was a member of a State Championship team...drafted by Atlanta in the 39th round of the June 2015 draft, but did not sign...Opted to attend the University of Maine, playing three seasons for the Black Bears... started every game during his collegiate career... in his junior season of 2018, led Maine in triples and runs scored and was named to the America East Second Team... at the time of the 2018 MLB Draft, was rated by ESPN.com as the No. 81 overall prospect.

Hit .297 (43x145) with five doubles, three triples, 10 homers, 21 RBI and a .942 OPS in 37 games in the Astros minor league system in 2021...missed the first three months of the season after undergoing left wrist surgery in April...returned to action in August and was eventually promoted to Triple-A Sugar Land on Aug. 28...in his last 30 games of the season with the Skeeters, he hit all 10 of his home runs, while slugging .598...named the Triple-A West Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 20-26 after hitting .478 (11x23) with three doubles, a triple, five home runs and seven RBI in the week...on Sept. 21 at Albuquerque, hit three home runs, including an inside the parker and a walk-off two-run homer... following his minor league season, spent the entire postseason on the Astros Taxi Squad...returned to the Dominican Winter League after the season and earned his second consecutive Gold Glove Award at shortstop, while hitting .291 (34x117) with six doubles, two homers and 15 RBI in 30 regular-season games.

Appeared in 11 games for the Astros in Spring Training in what was his only affiliated game action of 2020 due to the COVID-19 minor league shutdown...was not on the club's initial 60- man Player Pool, but was added to the group in September and finished his season at the Astros alternate training site...went on to play for the Estrellas in the Dominican Winter League and was named the league's Rookie of the Year...finished his Winter League season hitting .306 (37x121) with seven extra-base hits in 30 games.
