Selected in the Completive Balance-A Round (No. 32 overall) of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds out of Pace High School in Miami Gardens, Florida... full name is Jeter Deion Downs -- his mother chose the name "Jeter" in honor of Hall of Fame New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter... signed by Hector Otero (Reds) on June 22, 2015... Downs was traded by the Reds to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Dec. 21, 2018 along with RHP Homer Bailey and Josiah Gray for RF Yasiel Puig, LF Matt Kemp, LHP Alex Wood, C Kyle Farmer and cash... was a non-roster invitee to Dodgers Spring Training in 2020 but was traded a month later on Feb. 10, 2020 along with CF Alex Verdugo and C Connor Wong to the Boston Red Sox for RF Mookie Betts, LHP David Price and cash... Downs was also invited to Red Sox Spring Training in 2020 but spent the season at Boston's alternate training site after the Covid-19 pandemic wiped out the entire Minor League season... Downs' trade to Boston paired him with his brother, Jerry Downs, who was selected by the Red Sox in the 2015 MLB Draft... played in the Arizona Fall League in 2021... was promoted to Boston on June 20, 2022 and made his Major League debut two days later on June 22... went 6-for-39 with a homer and four RBIs (.154) with Boston in 2022 while spending most of the season at Triple-A Worcester... Saw time at four levels across the Minors and Washington... spent most of his time with Triple-A Rochester, where he hit .236 with three homers and 18 RBIs in 51 games... made rehab appearances with the GCL Nats and Wilmington Blue Rocks... went 2-for-5 with a walk and two steals in six Major League games with the Nationals... was designated for assignment by the Nats in December 2023... was claimed off waivers by the Yankees on Dec. 19, 2023

2022

Returned to Triple-A Worcester and largely replicated his numbers from 2021, hitting .197 with 16 homers and 33 RBIs in 81 games while also appearing in 14 Major League games with Boston, where he hit .154... was DFA'd by the Red Sox in December and claimed by Washington before Christmas

Spent the entire season at Triple-A Worcester and hit .190 with 14 homers and 39 RBIs in 99 games
