The "Oldest First Base Coach in Minor League Baseball," Art Silber was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, in the shadow of Ebbets Field. As a child he would walk his boyhood idol, Jackie Robinson, through the players' entrance of his hometown ballpark. Today, Silber wears No. 42 in honor of Robinson. As someone who wore the number prior to its retirement, Silber is one of only two people in all of professional baseball who is permitted to wear it.

Silber retired at age 55 as President/CEO of Sterling Bank in Baltimore, Maryland, and has been the team owner since 1990. Silber's two children, Lani and Seth, serve as team president and treasurer, respectively.
