ZEBULON, NC - Mario Feliciano hit his league leading 14th home run, Payton Henry had a two-run double, Braden Webb worked through a victorious quality start and the Mudcats scored five in the sixth while taking their first lead in a 7-6 series tying victory versus the Salem Red Sox on Friday night at Five County Stadium.

The Mudcats (34-26) were down 2-0 after the fifth before rallying back with five in the sixth and two in the seventh while taking a five run lead in the game. Salem (19-39) eventually came back with four in the ninth, but Carolina held for the victory while evening the series at 1-1 with two games left to go in the home stand and series.
Webb (W, 1-2, 3.82) earned both his first win and first quality start with the Mudcats this season while holding Salem to just two runs on two hits. He also walked four and struck out a season eight over six innings and 96 pitches (59 strikes) thrown. He allowed a run scoring hit to Garrett Benge in the fourth and a RBI double to Marcus Wilson in the sixth, but that would be it over his strong outing.
Salem starter Bryan Mata blanked the Mudcats over the first five innings of the game as he struck out five, walked one and scattered just two hits in what was his first start since May 4. He left the game with the Red Sox leading 2-0, but the Mudcats would go on to rally for five runs against the Red Sox pen while taking the lead for the first time in the game.
Carolina's five run sixth began with back-to-back singles from Rob Henry and Ryan Aguilar and continued with walk to Tristen Lutz and a bases loaded hit-by-pitch for Feliciano. Payton Henry then connected on his two-run double that hit reliever Kris Jackson in the foot before caroming into left away from the defense.
Jackson (L, 0-1, 19.80) ended up leaving the game after allowing Henry's double and with two men on base. Rio Gomez followed and eventually allowed both inherited runners to score on a RBI single from Eddie Silva and on a first and third, double steal with Henry taking home.
Carolina's five run sixth put the Mudcats 5-2 in the game and all five runs were charged to Jackson who ended up taking the loss. Gomez returned for the seventh, but ended up allowing a two-out home run to Feliciano as Carolina extended the lead to 7-2.
Feliciano's home run extended his consecutive games streak with a home run to four straight and was his Carolina League leading 14th of the season. Feliciano went 1-for-3 with three RBI in the game, Payton Henry had two RBI while going 2-for-4 and Rob Henry went 2-for-5 with two runs and a stolen base.
Carolina led 5-2 after six and 7-2 after seven with reliever Michael Petersen holding the lead. Petersen (H, 5) worked a scoreless seventh and then recorded two outs in the eighth before Rodrigo Benoit took over out of the Carolina pen. Benoit went on to finish the eighth, but then ran into some trouble in the ninth as he went on to allow two hits and two runs before leaving the game.
Andrews (S, 8) took over for Benoit in the ninth and allowed two inherited runners to score before striking out Wilson to end the game with a runner at third. Andrews allowed a RBI double to Ryan Fitzgerald and lost a wild pitch to score another run while working through the rest of the ninth to finish the game.
Benoit gave up four runs (two earned) on three this and walked one in the ninth. Andrews allowed one hit and struck out one while earning the save.
Wilson struck out to end the game, but went 2-for-3 with a run, one RBI and two doubles in the game for Salem. Nick Sciortino went 2-for-3 with a run and Tanner Nishioka was 1-for-5 with two RBI.
The Carolina victory leveled the series at a game a piece with game three set for Saturday at 5:00 p.m. in Zebulon. The Mudcats will enter Saturday's game at 4-1 in the home stand with RHP Dylan File (5-4, 3.94) on the mound with the start.
