Ryan Mitchell returns for his 16th season with the Clippers broadcast team, his 23rd season in professional baseball. He served as the Voice of the Chillicothe Paints in the Frontier League for six years, winning the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 2006. He broke into pro ball in 2002 as the #2 broadcaster with the Double-A Carolina Mudcats. On July 26th, 2011, Mitchell had the awesome experience of calling Justin Germano’s perfect game vs. Syracuse, only the 5th 9-inning perfecto in IL history. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Mitchell called baseball, football and basketball games for the Falcons and hosted several sports talk shows on the University’s two radio stations.
Several broadcasters will join Mitchell in the booth to call Clippers games at Huntington Park this season, including Bob McElligott (Radio Play-by-Play Announcer for the Columbus Blue Jackets and former Play-by-Play Announcer for the Syracuse Chiefs), Dylan Tyrer (Radio Host and Broadcast Coordinator for the Columbus Blue Jackets), Scott Leo (former Voice of the Columbus Clippers) and Eric Welch (Sports and Exercise Studies Professor at Columbus State Community College; former Manager of the Zanesville Greys and Chillicothe Paints, both of the Frontier Professional Baseball League). Additionally, former Play-by-Play Announcer for the Louisville Bats, Matt Andrews (Play-by-Play Announcer for Ohio State Baseball and Women's Basketball, Sideline Reporter for Ohio State Football), might drop by the booth from time to time.
