The Woodpeckers Charitable Initiatives
The Fayetteville Woodpeckers are committed to the betterment of the City of Fayetteville and its surrounding communities. As a component of The Astros Foundation {501(c)(3) registered charity the Fayetteville Woodpeckers Fund is the official team charity of the Houston Astros Class A Affiliate, The Fayetteville Woodpeckers. At the Fund's core, the Community Leaders Program will facilitate the team's investment of time, energy, and resources in support of youth sports and military service members and their families. This program relies on its collaboration with local and national corporations, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, and the Astros Foundation. The Fayetteville Woodpeckers have modeled the Community Leaders Program after the award-winning initiative of the Houston Astros official team charity, the Astros Foundation.
Allocation of Community Leaders Funds
The primary goal of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers Community Leaders Program is to have a tangible impact on the Fayetteville Community. The breakdown of fund distribution will be determined annually in conjunction with our Community Leaders partners.
Youth Sports
The program will provide young athletes with the resources they need to develop physically and mentally into future leaders in our community. We are firm believers in the qualities instilled within children who participate in youth sports and the life-long impact that goes beyond the field. Our long-term goal is to impact thousands of children and their youth baseball/softball leagues throughout the city; providing additional resources, instructional player and coaching clinics, infrastructure enhancements, uniforms and equipment.
Military
The Fayetteville Woodpeckers have embraced our proximity to the largest military installation in the world, Fort Liberty. In recognition of our men and women in uniform, this tier of the Program will focus efforts into providing opportunities to give back to our local heroes. The military-focused charities chosen to be the beneficiaries of the Community Leaders Program will reflect a commitment providing financial, emotional, physical, or recreational support to soldiers, veterans, and their families.
Other Beneficiaries
While the primary focus of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers Community Leaders Program will be youth sports and the military, we recognize that unexpected events can have a large impact on the community. Therefore, should the need arise to support another initiative (i.e. Hurricane, Natural Disaster Relief), the Program will consult our Community Leaders Partners regarding an additional, temporary allocation of funds. Together, the Program and its Partners will annually discuss and consider other charitable causes affecting the Greater Fayetteville region as additional tiers of community outreach.
