Manchester, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will transform into the Mountain Men as part of a 'What Could Have Been' experience on Sunday, July 8.
The Fisher Cats will honor New Hampshire's most beloved natural landmark -- the Old Man of the Mountain -- and one of the finalists in the 2004 'Name the Team' Contest by wearing limited edition jerseys and hats. In a fan vote prior to the team's inaugural season, the Fisher Cats moniker edged out the Manchester Millers, the New Hampshire Primaries, the New Hampshire Granite, and the Granite State Mountain Men.
"The voting came right down to the wire, and we've always wondered: what if the Fisher Cats didn't win?" said Fisher Cats President Mike Ramshaw. "Even for just one game, it's a fun way to envision what our team would look like, and we're always proud to recognize one of our state's most iconic landmarks."
Designed by Brandiose, the Mountain Man logo is dressed as a colonial soldier from the Revolutionary War, brandishing a baseball bat in lieu of a musket. This detail is a nod to New Hampshire's history as the first state to declare independence from Britain. The first 1,000 fans in attendance on July 8 will receive a replica Mountain Men jersey thanks to the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Northern New England.
Additional Mountain Men merchandise will be available for purchase in the team store, including the Old Man of the Mountain hat, which sold out in 24 hours during a special pre-sale in January.

The Old Man of the Mountain, the majestic stone face profile that once adorned the side of Cannon Mountain, is still revered to this day. Since its collapse in May of 2003, New Hampshire has continued to honor the state's symbol with a profile plaza at Franconia Notch State Park, allowing guests to see where the landmark once stood. A representation of the iconic image is displayed on the team's hat, and on the side of the first "M" in the Mountain Men text logo.
Fisher Cats Opening Day is Friday, April 13 against the Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies) at 6:35 p.m. at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The first 2,500 fans will receive a magnet schedule thanks to EnergyNorth Propane, with a Beatles-Themed Atlas Fireworks Show following the game. All Fisher Cats single game tickets are on sale now at NHFishercats.com/tickets.
