Morel Recalled to Chicago on Wednesday

(Fort Mill, SC) - Charlotte third baseman Brent Morel, who was batting .280 with five home runs and 40 RBIs through 66 games, was recalled to Chicago on Wednesday, June 26 as announced by the White Sox. Morel will take the roster spot of infielder Conor Gillaspie, who was placed on the paternity leave list on Wednesday. Morel, 26, is currently ranked second on the Knights in doubles (19) and first in on-base percentage (.373). The Bakersfield, CA native has also legged-out two triples and swiped eight bases. 

Morel becomes the eighth Knights player this season to be promoted to the White Sox. He joins Deunte Heath, Tyler Greene, Jordan Danks, Blake Tekotte, Brian Omogrosso, Donnie Veal, and Ramon Troncoso. Morel spent parts of three seasons with the White Sox from 2010-12 and compiled a .230 batting average with 13 home runs and 53 RBIs (182 games). 

The Charlotte Knights return home to Knights Stadium on Saturday, June 29 to open a five-game homestand. Saturday's game features post-game fireworks, courtesy of BB&T Ballpark and News Talk 1110 WBT. Fans can also enjoy a spectacular fireworks show on July 3rd for the annual WBT Skyshow - which features the largest fireworks display in the Southeast.
