Past Carolina League Travel Guides:
Part 1: Carolina Mudcats

After a five-year hiatus, Carolina League baseball returned to Kinston, N.C., in 2017. Plenty changed during that absence, with the branding (Kinston Indians to Down East Wood Ducks) and the affiliation (Cleveland to Texas) among the differences. However, Grainger Stadium remains as one of the Carolina League's most intimate facilities, and the Wood Ducks have done great work in refreshing the historic stadium while reconnecting with its fan base in many unique ways.
BALLPARK FEATURES

While Grainger Stadium features many excellent places to take in a game, the ultimate Wood Ducks gameday experience can be found at Mother Earth Pavilion. In just its second season, the Mother Earth Pavilion features a double decker bar and picnic in the right field corner, with a perfect view of the action. The first level is open to the general public, while the top floor is reserved for group outings and events. The pavilion meshes the new and the old of historic Grainger Stadium perfectly.

UNIQUE PROMOTIONS
The Wood Ducks have several exciting promotions still to come in 2019:
June 1 - Beach Weekend: The first 1,000 fans will receive a Beach themed Wood Ducks Jersey.
June 8 - Farm Appreciation Weekend: The first 1,000 fans will receive a Wood Ducks bucket hat. The Woodies will be playing as the Kinston Collard Greens from June 6-8. The "Collard Greens" nickname celebrates the rich history of agriculture and farming in Eastern North Carolina.
June 22 - 80's Weekend: The first 1,000 fans will receive a Wood Ducks 80's themed fanny pack.
August 3 - Back to School Weekend: Come celebrate back to school and DEWD's Birthday weekend, while the first 1,000 fans will receive a DEWD bobblehead.

MAKE IT A FULL DAY
If you are looking for more than just a baseball game, Kinston is a great place to take in a night or a weekend of fun. There are several great food and entertainment options near Grainger Stadium.
Mother Earth Brewing - Take the goodness of garden-grown products, the warmth of small town life, the earthy ethic of rock 'n roll, a deep respect for a time-honored craft...and you have the ingredients of Mother Earth Brewing. Born in the summer of 2008, Mother Earth is the dream-child of Kinston natives Stephen Hill and Trent Mooring.
Chef and The Farmer - Located just a mile from Grainger Stadium, and featured on Season 5 of 'A Chef's Life on PBS', Chef & the Farmer was originally founded with the vision to help transition some of Eastern Carolina's displaced tobacco farmers into food farmers. Since then, the restaurant has come to be known for thoughtful, creative cooking rooted in the region's ingredients and traditions.
Boiler Room Oyster Bar - Also from Vivian Howard and featured on PBS, the Boiler Room offers Oysters, burgers and beer. There is something for everyone at Boiler Room Oyster Bar, which was made in the memory of Eastern Carolina Oyster bars from Vivian's youth.
Sugar Hill Pizzeria - This New York Style pizza spot serves whole pizzas, pizza by the slice, appetizers, calzones, salads, wings, subs, strombolis and desserts. The two-room restaurant has rustic décor with seating in one room along with televisions in another so patrons can watch that day's big games.
TICKET INFORMATION
Single-game tickets for Wood Ducks home games start at just $7 for Sunday through Thursday games, while Friday and Saturday games are only $11 per ticket.
The club also offers Kid's Club memberships, which includes a t-shirt, invitations to special Kid's Club Events, discounts on the team's annual family baseball clinic and an invitation to DEWD's birthday bash. Kids club members are given complimentary admission to all Sunday through Wednesday home games when accompanied by a paying adult.
"The atmosphere here at Grainger Stadium is unlike any other," Wood Ducks Vice President Wade Howell said. "This is one of the few ballparks that has an old school environment where you can catch a game with future Major Leaguers. We have some unique promotions each weekend that bring the community together. When you come to our stadium, be prepared to be treated like family with food and fun."
