Hot Rods to Raise Money and Awareness for Hospitality House

Bowling Green, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods, Class A Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, will use an unprecedented thirteen game home stand at Bowling Green Ballpark to raise money for a new community initiative. The team has announced that Merchandise Manager and Community Affairs Dude Kyle Hanrahan will "camp out" at the ballpark every night during the 13-game home stand to raise money for The Hospitality House, a new initiative to support families of patients at The Medical Center and Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital.

From May 25 to June 6, Hanrahan will never leave the confines of the ballpark and will sleep in a tent on the grass seating area known as the Service One Credit Union Green Seats. To support this project, fans can make cash or check donations to benefit The Hospitality House at Bowling Green Ballpark beginning May 25.

"The 13-game home stand is the perfect opportunity to generate awareness about The Hospitality House and help further their cause," said Kyle Hanrahan. "By surrendering the usual everyday luxuries for thirteen days, I hope to somewhat emulate what families go through when they are dealing with serious illnesses and share how The Hospitality House can ease their burden by providing a comfortable place to stay while their loved ones receive needed medical care."

The Hospitality House will be located on the campus of The Medical Center and will provide "a home away from home" where families of critically ill patients can eat, sleep, and rest. More than 50 percent of The Medical Center and Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital patients come from outside Warren County for care. The Hospitality House will improve our community by providing a safe and comfortable place to stay to those with loved ones in the hospital.

Hanrahan's fund raising efforts will culminate with the final game of the home stand on Sunday, June 6, at 2:05 PM against the Kane County Cougars (Oakland Athletics), which will feature a Tribute to #13. The event will include music and movies from 13 years ago, player superstitions, and free ticket giveaways to the game on Friday, August 13.

The Hot Rods return home to begin the 13-game home stand on Tuesday, May 25, against the South Bend Silver Hawks (Arizona Diamondbacks). The first game of the home stand is one of six games that will benefit Warren County Parks and Recreation. Any fan that purchases a $10 regularly-priced box seat ticket for that night's game using the promotional code "WCPARKS" (use all caps) will help recover Warren County parks damaged by recent flooding.
