Suns, Marlins extend agreement
In the current two-year relationship with the Florida Marlins, which was due to expire in September, the Suns have a regular season record of 151-107 (.585) with 22 games remaining in the 2010 season. The Suns made a Southern League playoff appearance in 2009, going 6-1in the postseason, culminating with a Southern League Championship. They are currently qualified for the 2010 Southern League Playoffs after winning the First-Half Southern Division Championship and the club is poised to try for back-to-back titles.
Commenting on the agreement extension Marlins Director of Player Development Brian Chattin stated, "The Florida Marlins are excited to extend our partnership with the Jacksonville Suns through the 2012 season. The past two years with the Suns have been tremendous, and we are thrilled to be affiliated with such a fine organization. With its great facility, loyal fan base and steady support from Mr. Bragan and his staff, Jacksonville is an ideal player development partner."
"Well let's see, they said they'd try to give us a good club and year one we get Logan Morrison, Mike Stanton, Sean West and a bunch more, and win the league championship." Suns President and General Manager Peter Bragan Jr. said. "Year two the Big League club comes in and plays us here in Jacksonville, plus we get another great team that wins the first-half with Stanton bombing 'em out of here. The way the Marlins have been for us, we couldn't possibly be happier."
