Triple-A roundup: Jackson hits another

Lewis homers twice, but his Bisons squad also takes the loss

In the Pacific Coast League, No. 2 Cubs prospect Brett Jackson homered for the third straight game, giving him 11 for the season, in Iowa's 5-2 loss to Round Rock. Brad Nelson homered and drove in four runs for the Express, and Greg Reynolds (7-5) earned the win with 5 2/3 one-run innings.

No. 8 Cardinals prospect Matt Adams went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double and three RBIs and Steven Hill and Bryan Anderson added homers in Memphis' 11-1 rout of New Orleans. Brandon Dickson (3-7) scattered one run on eight hits over seven innings to pick up the win for the Redbirds. Nick Green led the Zephyrs, going 2-for-3 with a double.

No. 13 Angels prospect Kole Calhoun and Cory Aldridge homered as part of a four-run eighth inning that pushed Salt Lake past Reno, 5-3. Top D-backs prospect Trevor Bauer started for the Aces, surrendering one run on two hits and two walks while striking out five over 2 2/3 innings.

No. 8 A's prospect Chris Carter hit his 12th home run, with Daric Barton and Stephen Parker also homering in Sacramento's 6-1 win over Las Vegas. Travis Banwart (5-2) allowed just one run on six hits without any walks while fanning four over six innings to pitch the River Cats to the win. Chris Woodward led the 51s with three hits.

No. 2 Rockies prospect Drew Pomeranz (4-4) allowed one run on seven hits and four walks with four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings to pitch Colorado Springs to a 5-1 win over Tacoma. Chad Tracy cracked a homer and DJ LeMahieu doubled twice to lead the Sky Sox offense. The Mariners' No. 5 prospect, Vinnie Catricala went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Rainiers.

Matt Clark, No. 4 Padres prospect Jedd Gyorko and Anthony Contreras drove in two runs apiece in Tucson's 7-5 win over Fresno. No. 2 Giants prospect Francisco Peguero plated two runs for the Grizzlies in the loss.

Former Major Leaguer Doug Davis (3-1) tossed six scoreless innings, scattering four hits and two walks with six strikeouts in Omaha's 6-2 win over Oklahoma City. Anthony Seratelli homered for the Storm Chasers and Brandon Barnes homered and collected two RBIs for the RedHawks.

No. 18 Dodgers prospect Scott Van Slyke went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI as Albuquerque beat Nashville, 4-2. Both Edwin Maysonet and No. 7 Brewers prospect Logan Schafer went 2-for-4 with a double for the Sounds.

In the International League, Ryan Feierabend only allowed one hit through seven innings in Louisville's 2-0 win over Pawtucket. Joey Gathright went 4-for-5 at the top of the Bats lineup and added a double and an RBI. Mauro Gomez doubled, singled and walked afor the PawSox.

Jack Cust fell a triple shy of the cycle and drove in two runs to lead Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to a 4-0 victory over Indianapolis. Yankees leadoff hitter Kevin Russo went 3-for-4 and scored twice. Adam Warren gave up five hits and a walk over five frames as the squad's starter.

Erik Komatsu went 4-for-5 with a solo homer and three runs scored in Syracuse's 5-2 defeat of Gwinnett. Zach Duke improved to 9-3 for the Chiefs by allowing two runs on seven hits over eight innings. Braves shortstop Josh Wilson was 2-for-4 and drove in both of his squad's runs in the loss.

Fred Lewis homered twice as part of a 3-for-3 night for the Bisons, but he couldn't keep Buffalo from falling to Durham, 4-3. Bulls third baseman Matt Mangini went 3-for-4, homered and drove in two. Mets' No. 2 prospect Matt Harvey allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out six in five innings of work, but did not factor into the decision.

Led by four frames from Deunte Heath, four Charlotte pitchers combined on a two-hitter in the Knights' 6-0 win over Rochester. Dan Johnson hit his 18th home run of the season and contributed three RBIs offensively. Conor Jackson was 2-for-2 with an RBI, a run scored and three walks.

Jason Berken tossed five no-hit innings before allowing a single to open the sixth inning of Norfolk's 9-2 drubbing of Toledo. The Tides starter finished after eight innings, having allowed one run and three hits. Third baseman Bill Hall homered and drove in three runs. Fellow former Major Leaguer Miguel Tejada doubled, scored twice and drove in a run.

T.J. McFarland allowed four hits and struck out four in nine innings to lead Columbus past Lehigh Valley, 4-0. It marked the first complete-game shutout of the 23-year-old's five-year career in the Minor Leagues. Ezequiel Carrera doubled, singled and two RBIs.
