Triple-A roundup: Beckham stays hot

In the International League, Rays' No. 5 prospect Tim Beckham went 2-for-4 with a walk, three RBIs and a run scored in Durham's 12-6 rout of Buffalo. The shortstop is riding a seven-game hitting streak and is 14-for-39 since missing 50 games due to a drug-related suspension. He has increased his batting average 65 points to .269. Henry Wrigley was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Mets' No. 14 prospect Matt den Dekker was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs at the top of the Bisons batting order.

Mauro Gomez hit two solo homers and added a double, but it wasn't enough to keep Pawtucket from falling to Lehigh Valley, 8-5, in the first game of a doubleheader. IronPigs catcher John Suomi homered, doubled and drove in two while Tug Hulett doubled and tallied two RBIs as part of a 3-for-3 afternoon. B.J. Rosenberg allowed a run on three hits and a walk over four innings as Lehigh Valley's starter.

The IronPigs swept the twinbill, taking a 2-1 win over the Red Sox in the nightcap. Cody Overbeck, who entered the game as a replacement for rehabbing start Ryan Howard (0-for-2), took a bases-loaded walk to give Lehigh Valley the walk-off win in the ninth. Hulett drove in Pete Orr in the seventh with a groundout off Daniel Bard to tie the game. PawSox starter Billy Buckner scattered three hits, two walks and six strikeouts over six shutout frames.

Felix Pie followed a Tyler Pastornicky RBI double with a run-scoring single of his own in the ninth inning to push Gwinnett past Charlotte, 6-5. With the win, the Braves broke a franchise-record 15-game losing streak. Pastornicky doubled twice, drove in two and scored twice out of the second spot in the Braves order. Knights first baseman Dan Johnson homered, doubled and added two RBIs.

MLB.com's No. 32 prospect Starling Marte extended his multi-hit game streak to seven with a 2-for-4 performance in Indianapolis' 8-3 rain-shortened win at Louisville. The Indians outfielder singled and homered in his first two at-bats before finishing 2-for-4. Chase d'Arnaud hit a solo blast and stole two bases from the top of the Indianapolis lineup. Joey Gathright plated an RBI.

Twins' No. 18 prospect Pedro Florimon doubled and drove in a run as part of a 2-for-4 night to help Rochester defeat Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 5-3. Danny Valencia and J.R. Towles also went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Red Wings. Yankees left fielder Ronnier Mustelier contributed a two-run homer in the first.

Lew Ford went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Norfolk's 3-2 win over Syracuse. Tides starter Zach Britton allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks to go with seven strikeouts over six innings, but didn't factor into the decision. John Lannan took the loss for the Chiefs, surrendering three runs on nine hits and two walks and striking out four over 6 1/3 innings.

In the Pacific Coast League, Will Smith (3-4) hurled six three-hit innings, striking out nine and walking one as Omaha blanked Albuquerque, 6-0. No. 3 Royals prospect Wil Myers went 2-for-3 with his 14th homer and three RBIs and Lorenzo Cain added two more RBIs for the Storm Chasers. Josh Fields and No. 14 Dodgers prospect Tim Federowicz each had a pair of hits for the Isotopes.

Josh Donaldson smacked a seventh-inning grand slam, and Eric Sogard and Kila Ka'aihue each homered for Sacramento in an 8-2 victory over Colorado Springs. Dan Straily (2-1) scattered one run on three hits and three walks while striking out 10 over six innings to get the win for the River Cats. No. 6 Rockies prospect Tim Wheeler drove in two runs for the Sky Sox.

No. 3 D-backs prospect Tyler Skaggs worked seven innings, allowing five runs on 12 hits and a walk with three strikeouts to earn his first Triple-A win as Reno topped Las Vegas, 8-6. Josh Bell and No. 15 Arizona prospect Adam Eaton homered for the Aces. Cole Gillespie went 4-for-4. No. 18 Toronto prospect Moises Sierra and Mike McCoy each provided a homer for the 51s.

Brett Pill homered, doubled and drove in five runs while Nick Noonan went 2-for-3 with a solo shot and three runs scored as Fresno trounced Tacoma, 12-3. Matt Yourkin (2-4) surrendered two runs on two hits without any walks, fanning five, over five innings to pick up the win for the Grizzlies. Alex Liddi and Carlos Peguero went yard for the Rainiers.

Marwin Gonzalez hit a solo shot and Fernando Martinez tripled in two runs in Oklahoma City's 6-2 win over Memphis. Armando Galarraga (2-1) earned the win for the RedHawks, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts over six innings. Adron Chambers led the Redbirds with three hits and Eugenio Velez homered.

No. 15 Brewers prospect Caleb Gindl went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI and Jay Gibbons went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs as Nashville edged Iowa, 13-12. Edwin Maysonet added a pair of RBIs for the Sounds. Adrian Cardenas went 3-for-5 with two doubles and No. 10 Chicago prospect Josh Vitters went 3-for-6 with another two doubles for the I-Cubs. Blake Lalli went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the loss and No. 2 Cubs prospect Brett Jackson tripled and doubled.

Chad Bell (2-0) tossed six clean innings, scattering four hits and two walks with two strikeouts to pitch Round Rock to a 4-0 win over New Orleans. Julio Borbon led the Express out of the leadoff spot, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Joey Butler added a home run. Omar Poveda (0-1) took the loss for the Zephyrs, despite limiting Round Rock to three runs -- two earned -- on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings.

Andy Parrino hit a three-run homer and Jesus Merchan went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs as Tucson beat Salt Lake, 10-6. No. 4 San Diego prospect Jedd Gyorko added a pair of hits for the Padres. Ryan Langerhans led the Bees, going 2-for-5 with two doubles.
