Ryan Verdugo (8-3) limited Reno to two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings to give Omaha a 4-2 win. Tony Abreu went 2-for-4 with a three-run shot for the Storm Chasers. Cole Gillespie hit his 12th homer of the year for the Aces.
Jerry Sands plated three runs, Matt Angle went 4-for-5 and Ivan De Jesus tripled, doubled and scored three times as Albuquerque topped Las Vegas, 8-5. Charlotte center fielder Jared Mitchell went 3-for-5 with a double and second baseman Drew Garcia plated three runs as the Knights beat the Louisville Bats, 8-1. Left fielder Conor Jackson slugged his eighth homer, while designated hitter Dan Johnson connected on his 24th longball of the season. Matt Zaleski (4-5) surrendered a run on four hits over six innings in the win. Louisville leadoff hitter Denis Phipps homered and doubled in the defeat.
Tampa Bay's top pitching prospect Chris Archer spun six shutout innings in his longest start since returning from a left oblique injury as the Durham Bulls edged the visiting Gwinnett Braves, 1-0. No. 9 hitter Nevin Ashley scored the lone run of the game in the fifth on a double-play ball. Gwinnett's Jose Constanza was hit by a pitch on his left knee in the sixth inning, and he was carried off the field by his teammates. Braves starter Yohan Flande allowed an unearned run over six innings, but he fell to 5-8 on the year.
The Indianapolis Indians erupted for 21 hits in a lopsided 13-1 rout of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. Center fielder Jose Tabata was 4-for-6 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored, and Yamaico Navarro, Brandon Boggs and Anderson Hernandez added three hits apiece. Left fielder Christian Marrero hit his fifth Triple-A homer and finished with two RBIs. Baby Bombers' shortstop Eduardo Nunez went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a losing cause.
Pete Orr was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and Sebastian Valle plated both of Lehigh Valley's runs with a two-out double in the sixth to lead the IronPigs to a 2-1 victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox. The offense proved just enough for breakout star Tyler Cloyd, who allowed one run over seven innings. He lowered his ERA to 1.93 and improved to 11-1 with the win. Big league veteran Andy LaRoche accounted for Pawtucket's lone offense with a solo homer in the second inning.
Yunesky Maya tossed 7 2/3 scoreless innings and Carlos Rivero broke a scoreless tie with a solo homer with two outs in the seventh as the Syracuse Chiefs edged past the Buffalo Bisons, 2-0. Buffalo starter Garrett Olson allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out seven batters over seven innings, but he slipped to 4-7.
Norfolk first baseman Joe Mahoney was 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and left fielder LJ Hoes collected three hits, two RBIs and a pair of runs scored in the Tides' 8-2 win over the Columbus Clippers. Jake Arrieta moved to 3-1 after working 5 2/3 two-run innings in the win. Indians prospect Tim Fedroff doubled twice for the visiting Clippers to raise his International League average to .377.
