Bats Quieted, Biscuits Shutout by Generals
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (49-49/14-14) were held to four hits in a 6-0 loss to the Jackson Generals (43-53/12-15) on a rainy Friday night at Riverwalk.
Stephen Landazuri turned in his best start of the season, keeping the Biscuits off the board through a season-high seven innings while striking out five. The only threat Landazuri worked around was when the Biscuits loaded the bases in the fifth inning. Jake Hager popped out to second-base to end the inning.
The Generals scored early and often. After two errors in the first inning, Julio Morban drove in Ketel Marte with a single. Leon Landry and Marte turned in RBI-hits in the second inning to give the Generals a 3-0 lead. Kevin Rivers added a two-run double in the third inning. Patrick Kivlehan finished the Generals' scoring when he led off the fifth with a home run.
The bullpen for the Biscuits may have been the lone bright spot on a rainy night. Although Jimmy Patterson allowed the home run to Kivlehan, the bullpen combined to strike out ten through 6.2 innings while only allowing one run. Parker Markel struck out five in two innings. Cory Burns struck out the side in the eighth.
Game four of the series is Saturday night at 6:35. LH Grayson Garvin will be matched up with the Generals' 19-year old, RH Victor Sanchez.
