Aaron Sanchez Promoted to Major Leagues

Set to become 71st former Fisher Cat to make his Major League debut

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Toronto Blue Jays have purchase the contract of FIsher Cats opening day starter Aaron Sanchez, and the right-hander will join the team tonight as they face the Boston Red Sox in game two of a four-game series at Rogers Centre. When he makes his debut, Sanchez will become the 71st former Fisher Cat, and third this season, to make his MLB debut after playing for New Hampshire.

 

The right-hander pitched between New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo this season. He began with 14 starts for the Fisher Cats, posting a 3-4 record with 3.82 ERA. Over 66 innings, he allowed just 52 hits while striking out 57.  

 

He was promoted to Buffalo and pitched primarily as a starter with an 0-3 mark and 4.19 ERA in 34.1 innings of work. He began his stint with the Bisons in the rotation but made two relief outings since the All-Star break. Sanchez allowed an earned run in two innings out of the Herd bullpen.

 

Joining Sanchez back in Toronto is shortstop Ryan Goins, who began the season as the Blue Jays starting second baseman. He was optioned to Buffalo and has spent the majority of the season with the Bisons to the tune of a .285 average and only four errors in 79 games.  

 

The Fisher Cats will continue their series with the Trenton Thunder tonight at 7:05 p.m. The game will be followed by Atlas Fireworks. It's also Salute to Bread Night presented by J.J. Nissen.
