Omaha Loses to Reno, 4-2, on Saturday

OMAHA, Neb. - 8,602 fans looked on as the Omaha Storm Chasers were handed their second-straight loss on Saturday night, as they fell to the Reno Aces, 4-2. Irving Falu went one-for-three and drove in an RBI while Anthony Seratelli knocked home a run as well. Nate Adcock was handed a tough loss as he was tagged with his fourth defeat of the season after punching out eight in eight innings on the hill. Adcock did allow two runs, neither of which were earned. With the setback, the Chasers' magic number to repeat as division champs is currently stuck at 14 games.

Omaha (68-47) leapt out to a 1-0 lead in the third after back-to-back singles by Derrick Robinson and Mitch Maier put runners at first and third. Falu then bunted and the speedy Robinson darted home to score the game's first run.

Things quieted down until the sixth when the first batter of the inning, Ryan Budde, reached on a fielding error by shortstop Tony Abreu. The next batter, Adam Eaton, singled to put men on first and second while a sacrifice bunt by Jake Elmore pushed the runners to second and third. Mike Jacobs singled the pair in, two batters later, to put Reno (67-48) ahead 2-1.

Roman Colon came out of the bullpen in the ninth and promptly gave up a leadoff single. Colon then struck out the next batter before facing a pinch-hitter in the form of Cole Gillespie. Gillespie connected on a 0-2 offering and knocked the ball over the center field fence to put the Storm Chasers in a 4-1 hole. The pinch-hit home run was the first hit against Omaha since Ron "Pop" Warner did it at Rosenblatt Stadium on June 28, 1997.

David Lough tripled to right field with one out in the ninth and scored on a Seratelli groundout but that was all the Chasers could muster as Robinson struck out to end the game.

Omaha will welcome Colorado Springs to town on Sunday with a first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m. Sunday's game against Colorado Springs is the fourth annual "Bark in the Park" presented by All Paws and Dogtopia. Human tickets are $6.00 for the McDonald's Berm and just $1.00 for dogs, with all dog ticket proceeds benefitting the Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue. Fans may also send pictures or short videos of their dog to [email protected] to see their canine friend on the Werner Park video board. Sunday is also U.S. Bank Family FUN Day and Huerter Orthodontics Lil' Chasers Club Day and like always, kids will be able to enjoy clowns, face painters, balloon artists and free pre-game player autographs presented by Fat Brain Toys. Huerter Orthodontics Lil Chasers Club Members get in for free and following the Sky Sox versus Storm Chasers game all kids get to run the bases with Stormy presented by Hardees. It is also Sam's Club canned food day and everyone who brings a canned good item gets a free McDonald's grass berm ticket. All items collected will benefit The Open Door Mission.
