The Pensacola Blue Wahoos have spent the off-season making major renovations to their award-winning ballpark, Blue Wahoos Stadium, to enhance fan and player experience during the 2019 season. Brand new themed concession storefronts will transform fans' culinary experiences at the stadium this year, a new 20-foot LED dual video and score board will be installed behind home plate, the popular Bubba's Sand Trap bar and restaurant will have a new outdoor tiki bar façade and new signature food items, and the team has announced that they will be re-sodding the entire infield and home plate foul territory area this week.
Work will begin on the playing surface on Wednesday, March 13. The new turf will be provided by Bent Oak Farms in Foley, Alabama, the same company that provides the natural grass playing surface for the Super Bowl each year, and span approximately 17,000 square feet of the Admiral Fetterman Field playing surface. The first game action on the new infield grass will take place on Monday, March 18 when Escambia High School takes on Milton High School at 7:00 PM.
Blue Wahoos Stadium has been the home of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos since their inception in 2012. Widely recognized as one of the premier athletic facilities in Minor League Baseball, it has received numerous awards including the Southern League "Ballpark of the Year" three times, the "Best View" and "Best Seat In The House" from Minor League Baseball, the Ballpark Digest "Best Double-A Stadium" award, and the Stadium Journey "Best Minor League Experience".
