Originally the Idaho Spuds in the Utah-Idaho League (1926-1928), they became the Idaho Russets of the Pioneer League and then under various major league affiliation names continuously from 1962. After a fan vote, they became the Chukars (a local game bird) in 2004.
Notable players have been Billy Martin, Joe Maddon, Jose Canseco and Eric Hosmer.

Nearby are the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone Park, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, hot springs, lakes and rivers. The Snake River flows through downtown Idaho Falls framed by a greenbelt of parks and a waterfall. The city features an Art Museum including exhibits on the Lewis and Clark expedition as well as the Idaho Falls Zoo.
