In an effort to increase diversity in the baseball industry, both on the field and off, the Pioneer Baseball League is thrilled to be partnering with Mentoring Viable Prospects ("MVP").
MVP began in 2002 to challenge the idea of the declining interest of African-Americans in baseball. MVP assists African-American players in the academic and college recruiting process and puts on an annual Showcase and Symposium to support players.
Currently, the PBL is working with MVP scouts to connect with a more diverse group of prospective players, interns and mentees for its eight teams.
The annual Showcase and Symposium starts July 15th and the PBL’s League Office will be providing panel members to speak at the Symposium, emphasizing off field opportunities in the sports industry.
Part of the PBL mission is to help to provide internship and job development opportunities to underserved communities. The PBL is excited to connect with the next generation of both players, coaches and staff.
