2021 Prospect Combine FAQ's

Q: Is there an age limit for the tryout?

A: Players must be at least 18 years old to attend. Players with college eligibility remaining should check with their school before registering.

Q: How should I register if I want to try out as both a pitcher and a position player?

A: Register using the link for position players, list pitcher as your primary position, and include your secondary position in the appropriate section.

Q: Where and when is the tryout?

A: The tryout will take place on Saturday, November 6th at Claude Smith Field on the campus of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.

Q: What time should I arrive?

A: Check-in will be at 8:30 am for position players and pitchers. Workouts will begin at 9:30 am.

Q: What should I expect at the tryout?

A: Workouts and skills evaluations for position players will begin at 9:30 am. Pitchers will begin throwing light bullpens around 10:00 am. Afterward, there will be a short break. Select players and pitchers will be invited to participate in a simulated game. The simulated game is estimated to end at 4 pm.

Q: Where should I stay if I am from out of town?

A: Should a player need accommodations, they are responsible for booking a hotel room. They can take advantage of a special rate at the La Quinta on 3944 River Place Dr. Macon, GA 31210. Their phone number is 478-475-0206. In order to get the reduced rate of $69 per night, they will need to use this reservation code when booking: “LBMU Mercer Rate”. The tryout fee covers player attendance. You are responsible for travel and lodging expenses for the time of the camp.

Q: What should I bring?

A: Players should bring all of their own equipment including baseball attire, cleats, helmets, bats, gloves etc. Baseballs will be provided as well as identification numbers that are to be worn on the players’ shirts.

Q: Who will be scouting the players?

A: Club representatives from the Pioneer League, Atlantic League, and California Winter League will be present to assess all players.

Q: Will there be refreshments provided for the players?

A: Ice water jugs will be provided. Players are encouraged to bring their own personal water bottles that can be filled up. Disposable cups will be available. Players should also bring their own lunch, there will be a break in order to eat, but food will not be provided at the tryout.

Q: What are the Covid-19 mask and/or vaccination policies for this event?

A: We will be following the rules and guidelines of local, state, and university health officials which can be found here: https://www.mercer.edu/coronavirus/

Q: Will there be guaranteed signings?

A: This is a great opportunity to get the attention of scouts from Major League Baseball, the PBL, the APBL, and other professional leagues. While there will not be guaranteed signings, reports of qualified players will be made available to all professional leagues

Q: What if I signed up but can’t make it, or the tryout is otherwise postponed?

A: ALL REGISTRATIONS AND PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. ONCE A PLAYER IS REGISTERED AND PAYMENT IS COMPLETE THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS ISSUED FOR ANY FURTHER PBL OR CWL EVENTS.

IN THE CASE OF CAMP BEING POSTPONED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER OR COVID-19, PLAYERS WILL BE ISSUED A CREDIT ONLY TO THE RESCHEDULED EVENT.

UPON COMPLETION OF THE REGISTRATION PROCESS, PARTICIPATING PLAYERS AGREE TO ALL TERMS ABOVE.
