PERSONAL
♦ Selected by Baltimore in the first round (37th overall pick) of the 2018 draft.
♦ Initially selected by St. Louis in the 21st round of the 2015 draft but did not sign.
♦ Attended Oregon State University, where he helped lead the Beavers to a 2018 College World Series championship. Named to the 2018 All-College World Series Team and drove in the game-tying run in the ninth inning of Game Two of the CWS Finals vs. Arkansas.
♦ Received the Brooks Wallace Award as the nation's Best Collegiate Shortstop in 2018. Also named the Pac-12 Conference's Defensive Player of the Year. Batted .319 with 47 runs scored during his junior season, a year that saw him hit safely in 54 of 69 total games.
♦ Was one of seven All-Americans on Oregon State's roster in 2018, including C Adley Rutschman, who was drafted by Baltimore as the first overall pick in the 2019 draft.
♦ Attended Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, where he was a three-time All-State selection and was named the Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year in 2015. Ranked by Perfect Game as the 27th-best high school prospect his senior season.
