Signed with the Boston Red Sox as an undrafted free agent on June 24, 2020... said Boston had been interested in drafting him but opted to pursue him in free agency after the 2020 MLB Draft was shortened from 40 rounds in 2019 to five rounds in 2020... made his Minor League debut with Boston on May 6, 2021 with the Salem Red Sox, pitching two innings at Delmarva... was reassigned to the Rookie-level FCL Red Sox on July 5, 2021... pitched at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville for two seasons out of the bullpen... made 23 appearances over two seasons for the Cougars and finished 2-4 with six saves and 71 strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings... averaged 16.67 strikeouts per nine innings over his two seasons in college... graduated from Waterloo High School in 2016 and played for coach Mark Vogel... initially attended Jefferson College but transferred to SIUE... appeared in 13 games at Jefferson and struck out 15 batters in 16 innings... was the first SIUE Cougars player to sign with a Major League organization since 2018 when Mason McReaken signed with the Atlanta Braves.
