Signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Reds on July 17, 2020… received a $20,000 signing bonus... was selected in the 39th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners (1176th pick overall) but returned to West Point for his senior season... commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point in May 2020... was the first Army baseball player to be selected in the MLB Draft since 2015... Hurtubise filed his waiver application with the military before completing his degree in operations research and branching air defense artillery... represented by agents Steve and Jason Comte... was close to signing with the Cubs, the then-Cleveland Indians and the Reds following graduation from West Point -- his waiver required he sign a contract... decided to join the Reds after receiving a phone call from former Air Force baseball coach C.J. Gillman, who became the Reds' Minor League hitting coordinator and pitched Hurtubise on the organization... 2020 Minor League season was wiped out by the Covid-19 pandemic so Hurtubise ended up working at an Amazon warehouse in Indiana for the summer until the Reds invited him to their instructional league in Goodyear, Arizona in September 2020... teammates nicknamed him "LT" as a reference to his rank in the Army. “They were calling me Colonel,” Hurtubise recalled. “I was like, ‘Man, you guys are really promoting me.’"... Reds added him to their 40-man roster in November 2023 after he led the organization in OBP.
Finished his Army career as the program's all-time leader in stolen bases (105) and walks (142)… team captain collected numerous honors throughout his time with the Black Knights, including an Academic All-American Second Team selection (2020), a spot on the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Second Team (2019) and a Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year nod (2019)… finished his career as a Black Knight with a .301 batting average, 12 doubles, seven triples and 12 assists from the outfield... was named Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year heading into the 2020 season... prior to West Point, he attended Zionsville Community High School where he earned the LV Phillips and Zionsville Mental Attitude Award, was a two-time Zionsville Baseball Principal Award-winner and was the 2015 Indiana National Guard Academic Achievement Award winner... finished in the top five percent in his class in high school and was a member of the National Honor Society... his father, François Hurtubise, is from Montréal and came to the United States on a golf scholarship at Indiana University, where he met his wife, Lisa... has a brother, Alec, who plays basketball, softball and hockey through Special Olympics.

Began the season with Double-A Chattanooga before the Reds promoted him to Triple-A Louisville on June 6, when he made his Triple-A debut with the Bats, collecting a double and an RBI at Columbus... appeared in seven games, going 5-for-9 (.556) with five runs, three walks and a stolen base from June 6-16 before the Reds reassigned him to Chattanooga on June 17... he rejoined Louisville on Aug. 23 and finished the season at Triple-A... hit .306 with six homers, 36 RBIs and 33 stolen bases in 83 games in the Southern League and hit .390 with a homer, 10 RBI and a dozen steals in 36 International League games... totaled four three-hit games between Chattanooga and Louisville... stole a season-high four bases on July 1 against Tennessee... stole three bases on Aug. 13 vs. Pensacola and Aug. 22 against Tennessee... finished the year with eight multi-steal efforts... his most productive game of the year came on May 20 when he went 3-for-3 with a homer, a double, a stolen base and five RBIs against Biloxi... Reds sent him to the Arizona Fall League after the MiLB regular season ended -- he joined Surprise on Sept. 22... the Reds added Hurtubise to their 40-man roster on Nov. 14 to help protect him from the Rule 5 Draft in December... Hurtubise led all Reds Minor Leaguers with a .479 on-base percentage in 2023 and ranked second behind Blake Dunn (54) with 45 steals... his .961 OPS was the highest in the Reds' organization among Minor Leaguers with at least 100 games played and he finished third overall in OPS among qualified Reds batters... ranked second in the Reds system with 10 triples, second in batting average (.330), second in runs (102), second in hit-by-pitch (24), third in walks (77), seventh in games played (119), ninth in hits (113) and 18th in total bases (165)... selected by MiLB.com as a Reds organizational All-Star in 2023, his second time (2021) achieving the honor

Reds promoted Hurtubise to Double-A Chattanooga, where he hit .250 with a homer -- his first since high school -- nine RBIs, 16 steals, two doubles, two triples and 27 runs in 63 games... finished fourth on the Lookouts in stolen bases and third in OBP (.385)... missed almost a month between April and May with a right wrist sprain before missing half of June with another stint on the IL... ranked 12th in the Reds organization with 16 stolen bases and sixth in HBP (12)
2021
Debuted with the Reds at Dayton, where he hit .283 with 33 RBIs, 39 stolen bases and a dozen doubles in 102 games... led all Reds Minor Leaguers in stolen bases (39), runs scored (77), HBP (17) and ranked eighth in hits (94)
