Selected in the 15th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the New York Mets out of La Costa Canyon High School... had committed to San Diego State University before signing with the Mets... is a 2011 graduate of La Costa Canyon High School (Carlsbad, Calif.) where he batted .392 with seven home runs and 32 RBIs as a senior.

2023

The Arizona Diamondbacks signed free agent 3B Phillip Evans to a Minor League contract and invited him to Spring Training on Jan. 9, 2023... began the season with Triple-A Reno and was leading all Triple-A hitters in batting at .418 through mid-May (5/16/23)

Batted .244 (88-for-361) with 17 doubles, nine home runs and 33 RBI in 103 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre... elected free agency following the season
