Spent four years at Kansas (2018-21) where he was a 2021 All-Big 12 Second Team honoree and was named to the 2021 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball First Team… started 56 games at Kansas and led the Jayhawks in batting average (.324), games played (56), games started (56), at-bats (213), runs (43), hits (69), doubles (19), RBIs (39) and slugging percentage (.460)... joined Texas as a redshirt senior in 2022, where he hit .364 with 11 homers and 59 RBIs in 65 games.
Prior to college, he played four years at Niwot (Colorado) High School where he batted .484 with eight doubles, four triples, four homers and 21 RBIs in 19 games his senior year... was a two-time all-conference honoree his freshman and junior years of high school, was named the Northern Conference Player of the Year his senior year and was an Academic All-State his junior and senior years... majored in strategic communications at Texas... son of Cary and Barbara Messinger... has one brother, Connor, who played four years of collegiate baseball at Omaha and Nebraska-Kearney... grandfather, Tom Messinger, played golf and hockey at Michigan...
