BRADENTON, FL — For the first time in 2024, the Bradenton Marauders were shutout, falling 2-0 to the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels on Wednesday night at LECOM Park.

Fort Myers plated their first run in the third inning againt Hung-Leng Chang (0-1). Isaac Pena walked, and Omari Daniel doubled to begin the frame before Maddux Houghton lined into a double play at third base. After a walk to Aaron Sabato to place two runners on with two outs, Brandon Winokur singled to right-centerfield to score Daniel and push the Mighty Mussels in front 1-0. Chang finished up striking out a season-high five batters in 3.2 innings, falling just one punchout shy of tying his career-high.

Jose Rodriguez belted a solo-home run to left field in the sixth inning to double the Fort Myers lead to 2-0. Cesar Lares (1-0) tossed six scoreless frames to stifle the Bradenton offense.

The Marauders were held without a hit for the first 7.2 innings until a Javier Rivas bloop single in the eighth against Danny Moreno. Julio Bonilla (SV,3) entered right after and retired the final four batters of the game to preserve the shutout for Fort Myers.

Out of the bullpen, Tyler Kennedy punched a career-high six in two scoreless innings. Inmer Lobo retired the side in the ninth to record a scoreless outing.

With a hit by pitch in the seventh inning, Garret Forrester extended his on-base streak to 10 games, tied for the second longest by a Marauder this season. Jesus Castillo began the year reaching base in the first 15 contests.

The Marauders and Mighty Mussels continue their six-game series on Thursday night at LECOM Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 6:10 p.m. on the Marauders Broadcast Network. Bradenton will send RHP Antwone Kelly (0-2, 9.00) to the hill while Fort Myers turns to RHP Charlee Soto (0-1, 2.08).
