BRADENTON, FL — The Bradenton Marauders defeated the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels 5-4 on Sunday afternoon at LECOM Park to earn their fourth-straight win and continue their longest winning streak of the year.

In a bullpen game for Fort Myers, Aaron Holiday opened the game and issued four walks in the first inning. Holiday allowed one run on a passed ball that scored Kalae Harrison before Jack Noble entered and struck out the last two hitters in the ending to leave the bases loaded.

After Rayne Doncon tied the game with a solo-home run in the third against Khristian Curtis, Eddy Rodriguez singled to start the third before Shalin Polanco crushed a no-doubter to right-centerfield to give the lead back to Bradenton at 3-1.

Fort Myers tied the game in the fifth after a single by Matthew Clayton and an error allowed Omari Daniel to reach to begin the inning. Byron Chourio singled home Clayton and Daniel ended up scoring on a double play to tie the game at three. Curtis allowed all three runs but only one was earned across a career-high 4.2 innings. He also racked up a career-high six strikeouts in his outing.

Bradenton scored the game’s decisive runs in the sixth against Julio Bonilla (1-1). After striking out the first two batters in the inning, Bonilla issued a pair of walks to PJ Hilson and Wesley Zapata to bring up Harrison. The left-handed batter singled on a ball through the right side of the infield to score Hilson with Zapata scoring on a throwing error from Maddux Houghton to push Bradenton back ahead 5-3.

After Carlos Jimenez (1-2) tossed a scoreless sixth, Yoldin De La Paz entered for the seventh. Daniel led off the frame with a triple before scoring on a two-out single from Brandon Winokur to trim the lead to 5-4.

In the ninth, Daniel singled with one-out against Landon Tomkins (SV,3) to place the tying run on base. After another single by Doncon two batters later, Tomkins induced a game-ending flyout to Winokur to end the ballgame.
