Cedar Rapids, IA - John Klein tossed six shutout innings and Jacob Wosinski finished off the final three frames scoreless as the Kernels blanked Quad Cities for the second straight night 1-0.

After wins in the first two games of the series, Cedar Rapids got on the board first in the first inning on Thursday. With one out in the frame, Ricardo Olivar ripped a double, and two batters later came home to score on a Jay Harry RBI single to put the Kernels ahead 1-0.

That would be the extent of the scoring on the night.

On the mound, John Klein posted his best start in a Kernels uniform. In his seventh start of the year, Klein went a season-long six innings allowing no runs on just one hit with six strikeouts compared to no walks. Earning his third win of the year.

Behind him, Jacob Wosinski picked up right where Klein left off. Wosinski collected his third save of the season allowing just two hits compared to four strikeouts across three scoreless innings to close out the win.

For Quad Cities, Steven Zobac took home the tough-luck loss. The right-hander allowed one run on four hits in a losing effort.

The win improves Cedar Rapids to 21-14 on the season and extends the Kernels' home winning streak to eight games. Game four of the six-game series is set for tomorrow at 6:35 with C.J. Culpepper on the mound opposite Frank Mozzicato.
