LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – A 2-1 lead after five innings was not enough for the Gwinnett Stripers (9-11) as the Memphis Redbirds (10-10) homered in both the sixth and eighth innings to win 4-2 on Saturday night at Coolray Field.

Decisive Plays: For the second consecutive game, Jose Fermin led off the game with a solo home run to stake Memphis to a 1-0 advantage. Gwinnett leveled the score on an RBI single from Forrest Wall in the third inning, and briefly took a 2-1 lead on an RBI double by J.P. Martinez in the fifth. Memphis tied the game on a solo homer by Luken Baker in the sixth, took the lead on an RBI single by Alfonso Rivas III in the seventh, and added insurance on a solo homer by Nick Dunn in the eighth.

Key Contributors: In his second game back with Gwinnett, Wall (3-for-5, RBI, SB) led all Stripers in hits and recorded his first steal of the season. Alejo Lopez (2-for-4) also had a multi-hit night. Taylor Widener (4.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO) gave the Stripers solid innings in his first start of the season. For Memphis, Fermin, Baker, and Dunn all tallied solo homers.

Noteworthy: Wall’s steal was the 53rd of his Stripers career (since 2023) and places him four behind Matt Young (57 from 2009-11) for second all-time in Gwinnett franchise history.
