In front of a packed house, the Lynchburg Hillcats snuck out a second straight 3-2 victory over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

For the third straight day, Lynchburg was able to hold the Pelicans bats quiet. Alonzo Richardson cruised through his 5.2 innings of work, allowing only three hits while racking up six strikeouts.

The Hillcats would finally crack the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning as Esteban Gonzalez would deliver a double off the right field wall that drove home Jaison Chourio. The lead would not last long as the Pelicans would tie things up in the top of the seventh courtesy of Carter Trice and his RBI single.

In the bottom of the seventh, Ralphy Velazquez would reach first with a walk. After a pop fly from Jaison Chourio, Angel Genao would dig in with one hit on the day already. Facing a new pitcher, he would jolt one over the right-center field wall for his third home run of the season, giving Lynchburg the lead for good.

Up 3-1 in the ninth, the Pelicans would tack on another as Alfonsin Rosario posted his first home run of the season on a solo shot to left. From there, Jack Jasiak would slam the door shut and pick up the win.

The official attendance total was 4,876 as hundreds of local youth leagues enjoyed the night out at the ballpark. As part of the festivities, they were treated to a pregame parade around the warning track.

The Hillcats and Pelicans will conclude their series with one final game on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at Lynchburg-hillcats.com.
