MONTGOMERY, AL - Bob Seymour launched a go-ahead double off the wall in center in the eighth, Cole Wilcox spun a career-high seven innings of two-run ball, and the Montgomery Biscuits (19-15) topped the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (20-14) 3-2 for their third straight win on Tuesday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

After Pensacola took the lead with two runs in the fifth, Seymour tied the game with a single in the sixth and doubled off the wall in center in the eighth to win it for the Biscuits. The win snapped Pensacola’s five game win streak. Seymour went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, his best statline of the season.

Wilcox posted the longest start for Montgomery this year. The right-hander went seven innings and allowed two runs with six punchouts. It was also the longest start of Wilcox’s career.

Heriberto Hernandez started the scoring with a solo homer to right center to lead off the second. Hernandez is now tied for the league lead with six home runs this season. Carson Wiliams tripled for the second time in as many games and scored in the sixth to tie the game at 2-2.

The game featured several defensive highlights on both sides. In the third, Williams ranged behind the second base bag and spun while throwing on a hop to first base to get the runner. The play most likely prevented a run from scoring. In the seventh, Tanner Murray dove to stop a ball behind second base and quickly got up to fire to first base for the out.

Keyshawn Askew got his first win with a scoreless eighth inning, and Austin Vernon struck out a pair in the ninth for his first save.

The second game of the series is on Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium. Ben Peoples will make the start for Montgomery while Luis Palacios will start for Pensacola. The first pitch is at 6:35pm CT. Fans can listen on Sports Radio 740, MiLB First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
