The Salt Lake Bees dramatically defeated the Reno Aces on Saturday afternoon with a walk-off 8-7 victory. Bryce Teodosio came through as the hero, recording a leadoff triple and walking it off with an RBI single to bookend a six-run ninth inning comeback.

The Aces jumped all over Salt Lake starter Zach Plesac, starting the game with back-to-back doubles to take a quick one-run advantage. The visitors tacked on another run with a leadoff triple off the bat of Jose Herrera and later scored from a Jancarlos Cintron single. The Aces stretched their lead to seven runs with a five-spot in the fifth inning, stringing together five singles with a pair of walks. The Bees crossed the plate for the first time in the sixth inning when Willie Calhoun roped a solo home run to right field, his first of the season. Jack Lopez cut the deficit to five runs in the eighth inning by driving in Cole Tucker from second base after Tucker walked and advanced to second via a balk to set up a wild ninth inning.

Teodosio sparked the offense in the final frame of the game with a leadoff triple, marking his sixth three-bagger of the season which leads all of Major and Minor League Baseball. Jordyn Adams and Elliot Soto both walked to load the bases and Hunter Dozier followed by lining a single into left field to score two runs and place runners on the corners. After a fielder’s choice groundout and a walk, Jack Lopez came through with the bases loaded, slashing a base hit to left field and advancing all three Bees runners a base while scoring a run and making it a 7-5 ballgame. With two-outs and the bases loaded, Sonny DiChara worked a four-pitch walk to score another Salt Lake run to pull the home team within one. The tying run scored with pinch-hitter Charles LeBlanc at the plate and without even seeing a pitch, Reno relief pitcher Dakota Chalmers balked, allowing Cole Tucker to cross home. The dramatic game-winner came with two outs and two runners in scoring position as Bryce Teodosio singled to left field, pushing across the final run while securing the comeback victory.

The Bees bullpen shined in relief as Ryan Miller, Adam Kolarek, and Amir Garrett finished the final 4.1 innings in scoreless fashion, allowing just three hits. Adams walked four times in the contest and while Lopez and Teodosio each had a three-hit game.

The series finale between the Bees and the Aces will take place tomorrow afternoon at Smith’s Ballpark with first pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.
