The final six home games of 2021 have come. Soon, the boys of summer will soon be a fond memory until next season. As we come to say goodbye to baseball for the year, there are still a few more things worth checking out at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium this week!
If you were not aware, the Greenville Drive are making their way to Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium for the first time since they were founded in 2005. Being an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, this series could provide a glimpse of what could be to come for the Orioles in a few years’ time.
From a statistical standpoint, both teams boast collective hitting averages and ERAs that are very similar. Greenville with a team batting average of .258 and ERA of 4.49. While Aberdeen’s batting average is currently .247 and ERA sits at 4.71. For Greenville, Nick Yorke will be the batter to watch batting .375 and an OBP of .453. Cristopher Cespedes has been batting just under .300 and will look to continue staying consistent at the plate for the ‘Birds. Gunnar Henderson has a team high of 35 RBIs and will look to close out his campaign strong. On the mound, both Jake Prizina and Zach Peek will be keen to continue striking batters out – Prizina currently sits at 65 strikeouts while Peek has 52. The series promises to be a flurry of baseball action to finish off the summer and we hope to see you there.
