BOISE, ID: The Northwest League, in conjunction with the host team Boise Hawks, have announced the starting lineup and roster for the 2019 Northwest League / Pioneer League All-Star Game. Leading the way are the Hillsboro Hops and Spokane Indians with five All-Stars each, followed by the Eugene Emeralds and Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (four), Vancouver Canadians and Boise Hawks (three), and rounded out by the Everett AquaSox and Tri-City Dust Devils (two).
Boise Hawks Manager Steve Soliz will be leading the Northwest League All-Stars. His coaching staff is rounded out by Cesar Galvez, Ryan Kibler and Fred Ocasio.
STARTING LINEUP (AS ANNOUNCED TODAY, STATISTICS AS OF JULY 30, 2019)
Starting Pitcher Luis Frias (Hillsboro) - Frias was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks as a third baseman back in 2015 and is currently ranked the 11th best prospect in the D-Backs system by Baseball America. Frias leads the Northwest League in strikeouts with 66 on the season and has the second best ERA in the league at a 2.06.
Catcher Ricardo Genoves (Salem-Keizer) - The San Francisco Giants signed Genoves in 2015 out of Venezuela. Genoves is currently ranked as the 24th best prospect within the Giants organization per Baseball America and third in the Northwest League in RBI with 29.
First Base Yorman Rodriguez (Vancouver) - Signed back in 2014 by the Toronto Blue Jays, Rodriguez is currently atop the Northwest League in batting average (.364) and hits (51).
Second Base Chase Strumpf (Eugene) - Strumpf is ranked the seventh best prospect in the Chicago Cubs organization. He was drafted in the second round in the 2019 MLB Draft out of UCLA. Strumpf is hitting .317 on the year and has collected seven doubles along with two home runs for the Emeralds.
Third Base Sean Roby (Salem-Keizer) - Roby was drafted in the 12th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants out of Arizona Western Junior College. He currently leads the Northwest League in on-base percentage with a .425 mark and is tied for third in RBI with 29 alongside fellow All-Star and Volcanoes teammate Ricardo Genoves.
Shortstop Trevor Schwecke (Vancouver) The Vancouver Canadians shortstop was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 13th round out of the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Schweke is currently second on the Canadians in average at .291 with 16 RBI.
Outfielder Kristian Robinson (Hillsboro) - Robinson currently leads the Northwest League in RBI with 34 and is also second in the league in home runs with nine. Robinson was signed by the Diamondbacks in 2017 from the Bahamas and is currently 18 years old. He is the fourth best prospect in the Diamondbacks system according to Baseball America.
Outfielder Franklin Labour (Salem-Keizer) - The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes outfielder has muscled out 14 home runs this season which leads the Northwest League. Labour was signed by the San Francisco Giants back in 2015 from the Dominican Republic and is ranked the 19th best prospect by Baseball America in the Giants pipeline.
Outfielder Fernando Kelli (Eugene) - Kelli was signed by the Chicago Cubs back in 2016 and has collected a lot of extra base hits on the season. Kelli is tied for fourth in the Northwest League in doubles with 10 and is tied for second in the league in triples with three.
Designated Hitter Blaine Crim (Spokane) - Drafted in the 19th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers out of Mississippi College, Crim has racked up 11 doubles for the Indians, tying him for the second in the Northwest League.
NORTHWEST LEAGUE RESERVE PITCHING STAFF
Marcos Tineo (Hillsboro) - The second Hops pitcher on the All-Star roster, Tineo is fourth in the Northwest League with a 2.70 ERA. He signed with the Diamondbacks in early 2017 when he was 19 years old.
Jacob Wallace (Boise) - Drafted in the third round by the Colorado Rockies in the 2019 MLB Draft, Wallace has impressed Hawks fans with 19 strikeouts over 14 innings of work. He is also tied for the lead in saves in the Northwest League with eight.
Reagan Todd (Boise) - Todd was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2018 in the 32nd round out of Colorado Mesa University. Todd has thrown 25 strikeouts on the year as the Hawks setup man and has only one game this year without a strikeout.
Riley McCauley (Eugene) - With five saves on the year, McCauley has been relied on as a closer for the Emeralds this year. He was drafted in the 14th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs out of Michigan State.
George Kirby (Everett) - Drafted in the first round by the Seattle Mariners this year, Kirby has only given up one earned run over 10 innings this season for the AquaSox. Drafted out of Elon University, Kirby is ranked the seventh best prospect in the Mariners organization per Baseball America.
Damon Casetta-Stubbs (Everett) - Casetta-Stubbs was drafted in the 11th round by the Seattle Mariners in the 2018 MLB Draft and is tied for sixth in the Northwest League in strikeouts with 38. He signed as a high school senior out of Kings Way Christian Schools in Vancouver, WA.
Kervin Castro (Salem-Keizer) - Castro was signed by the San Francisco Giants from Maracay, Venezuela, back in 2015 when he was 16 years old. In his nine starts for Salem-Keizer this year, he has gathered a 2.68 ERA, good for third best in the Northwest League.
Ricky Vanasco (Spokane) - Vanasco signed with the Texas Rangers out of high school in the 15th round of the MLB Draft back in 2017. His 48 strikeouts are good for the second most in the Northwest League.
Daniel Robert (Spokane) - The second pitcher from the Indians staff for the All-Star roster, Robert has collected two saves and 29 strikeouts on the season with Spokane. He was drafted in the 21st round by the Texas Rangers out of Auburn University.
Dan Dallas (Tri-City) - Dallas was drafted in the seventh round of the 2016 MLB Draft with the San Diego Padres and has thrown 32 strikeouts this year for the Tri-City Dust Devils. He currently has a 1.25 ERA for the Dust Devils over his 21.2 IP.
Adam Kloffenstein (Vancouver) - Drafted in the third round by the Toronto Blue Jays last year, Kloffenstein has gathered the second best ERA amongst the Vancouver Canadians starters at 2.27. He is currently ranked as the 11th best prospect in the Blue Jays organization according to Baseball America.
NORTHWEST LEAGUE RESERVES
David Garcia (Spokane) - Catcher - A switch-hitting catcher, Garcia has collected five home runs on the season for the Spokane Indians. He was signed by the Texas Rangers when he was 16 from Venezuela.
Jake Slaughter (Eugene) - First Base - Slaughter currently sits seventh in the Northwest League in batting average with a .307 mark and has collected 23 RBI on the season, good for eighth best in the league. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 18th round last year out of LSU.
Reinaldo Ilarraza (Tri-City) - Second Base - The 20-year-old switch-hitter from Venezuela signed with the San Diego Padres back in 2015. He currently leads the Northwest League in walks with 35.
Aaron Schunk (Boise) - Third Base - The Colorado Rockies second round pick of the 2019 MLB Draft currently has the second most hits in the Northwest League with 50. He is the 18th best prospect in the Rockies system according to Baseball America.
Steven Leyton (Hillsboro) - Shortstop - The Hillsboro Hops shortstop is currently ranked second in the Northwest League in runs with 30. Leyton signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2016 from Nicaragua.
Kellen Strahm (Spokane) - Outfielder - Strahm was drafted in the third round this year by the Texas Rangers from San Jose State and has collected three home runs with the Indians.
Jesus Marriaga (Hillsboro) - Outfielder - Marriaga has been a threat on the bases for the Hops this season. He is tied for second in the Northwest League in runs with 30 and has collected nine stolen bases, which is a tie for the eighth most in the league. He was signed by the Diamondbacks in 2016 out of Colombia.
