Four Hot Rods Named to Post-Season All-Star Team, Albernaz Manager of Year

SOUTH BEND, IN - The Bowling Green Hot Rods and the Midwest League announced their post-season All-Stars and Manager of the Year award this morning and the Hot Rods were well represented. 2B Vidal Brujan , LF Moises Gomez , C Ronaldo Hernandez , and RHP Tommy Romero were all named to the list, while Manager Craig Albernaz was named Manager of the Year.
The four Hot Rods represented are the most in the League, and were voted on by the field managers within the League. It is the most Hot Rods ever named to a Midwest League Post-Season All-Star team, besting the three that were named in 2012 and 2013. Also, Albernaz is the first Hot Rods Manager to win the Manager of the Year award.
Albernaz has managed the Hot Rods to the best record in the Midwest League entering play today. His team has set the franchise record for longest winning streak twice this season- an 11-game run and a 13-game run. The Hot Rods won the Eastern Division in the first half by four and a half games. The Hot Rods enter play today up one game over Lansing in the second half standings and five and a half games overall.
Brujan, a Midwest League Mid-Season All-Star, was recently called up to High-A Charlotte. He finished his time in Bowling Green with a .313 batting average. In 95 games, he had 118 hits and 41 RBI. He also had 48 walks and was among the league leaders with 43 stolen bases.
Gomez, a Midwest League Mid-Season All-Star, enters play today with a .277 average. His 47 extra base hits lead the team. He has 67 RBI and 13 home runs, second most on the team in each category.
Hernandez, a Midwest League Mid-Season All-Star and Home Run Derby Champion, has played 97 games this season and leads the team with 18 home runs and 73 RBI.
Romero, a Midwest League Mid-Season All-Star, joined the Hot Rods at the end of May and is 6-1 with a 3.36 ERA since joining the club. The Hot Rods are 12-1 in games in which he starts, and he currently leads the team with a 3.01 ERA, 113 and two-thirds innings pitched, and 122 strikeouts.
