Hot Rods Take Series From Cougars with 4-3 Win

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods won yet another series with a 4-3 win over the Kane County Cougars. Bowling Green was the first to score, and two two-run innings was enough to put the Hot Rods over the top.
Things got started quickly once again, this time it was the Hot Rods scoring in the first inning. 2B Vidal Brujan and SS Zach Rutherford started the game out with back to back singles. DH Taylor Walls brought home Brujan with a ground-out, and C Ronaldo Hernandez scored Rutherford with a single at the Hot Rods lead 2-0.
Kane County waited until the fourth inning to answer, and it started when 1B Yoel Yanqui reached on an error, then scored on a double from LF Luis Silverio . The Cougars tied the game with a double from DH Eudy Ramos .
Bowling Green answered quickly in the bottom of the frame CF Carl Chester singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch the give the Hot Rods the lead. Brujan doubled home 1B Jim Haley to give the Hot Rods their two run lead right back.
LHP Resly Linares got the start fort the Hot Rods and threw five an one-third innings and allowed four hits, two unearned runs, one walk, and he struck out seven. RHP Kyle Goodbrand was the first one out of the pen and he earned his second hold throwing one and two-thirds innings allowing just one hit and one walk.
The Cougars got one run in the top of the ninth thanks to a solo home run from C Jose Herrera , but that was all as RHP Orlando Romero was able to record the last six outs and pick up his sixth save of the season.
Next up Quad Cities makes the trip into Bowling Green. Starters for the series have yet to be announced. First pitch tomorrow will be at 6:35pm CST at Bowling Green Ballpark.
