Mudcats and Shorebirds Suspended Due to Rain
SALISBURY – Tonight's game between the Carolina Mudcats and Delmarva Shorebirds was suspended in the middle of the fifth inning due to rain at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, MD. The game was halted with the Mudcats leading 4-0 and will resume on Thursday as part of a doubleheader
SALISBURY – Tonight's game between the Carolina Mudcats and Delmarva Shorebirds was suspended in the middle of the fifth inning due to rain at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, MD. The game was halted with the Mudcats leading 4-0 and will resume on Thursday as part of a doubleheader beginning at 5:05 p.m. in Salisbury.
The Thursday doubleheader will feature the remainder of Wednesday's game and will be played from the bottom of the fifth through the ninth. It will then be followed by a doubleheader shortened seven-inning game.
Carolina originally took a 1-0 lead in the first on a RBI double from Jesus Chirinos. Chirinos later struck again with his second RBI double of the game during a three run Carolina fifth. The fifth also saw a two-run double from Robert Moore. Chirinos was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI before the suspension. Moore was 1-for-3 and had also drove in two runs.
Stiven Cruz started for the Mudcats and worked through three no-hit innings before allowing a single in the fourth. Cruz was scheduled to return for the fifth before the game was stopped. He ended up going through four innings with a hit, a walk and four strikeouts.
Carolina leads the season series between the two teams 1-0.
