DUBON, ORF KEEP STREAKS ALIVE IN 4-1 LOSS TO DODGERS
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Sky Sox dropped their second straight game in Oklahoma City against the Dodgers on Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark with a 4-1 final. In a pitcher's dual, the Sky Sox were only able to total a solo run while tying a season-low in hits (4) that was set on April 7 in game two of a doubleheader in Omaha. The Sky Sox are now 2-for-18 with runners in scoring position in their last two bouts.
Mauricio Dubón and Nate Orf highlighted the Sky Sox offense as each extended their respective hit streaks. Dubon, in the third, knocked a ground ball single to bring his streak to 23 games, making it the third-longest streak in franchise history. Orf finished going 2-for-4 with the only Sky Sox RBI of the night with his double while extending his hit streak to 16 games. Right-hander Brandon Woodruff would not get a decision in his first start with the Sky Sox since April 21 in Round Rock.
For the second straight night, Oklahoma City got things rolling first with a solo run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead thanks to Dodgers' Rocky Gale's leadoff home run.
Entering the top of the third with Dodgers starter Daniel Corcino hitless, Sky Sox strong-arm Brandon Woodruff got things started with a walk that led to a base hit by leadoff man Nate Orf, extending his hit streak to 16 games. The very next batter Mauricio Dubon followed with a single, prolonging his hit streak to 23 games, to left field to load the bases with two outs, but Ji-Man Choi would fly out to end the frame scoreless.
The Sky Sox, who didn't score until the eighth inning in last night's contest, broke through mid-game to tie it up at 1-1 in the fifth inning when Orf stung his second hit of the game, an RBI double to score Kyle Wren, who walked.
In the seventh, the Dodgers found a lead once again to make it a 3-1 ballgame. After Sky Sox reliever Erik Davis surrendered a leadoff walk to Michael Ahmed, Logan Landon and Jake Peter both singled to manufacture the go-ahead run. Alex Burg followed with a third consecutive single to take a two-run lead over Colorado Springs.
Dodgers' Gale would knock his second home run of the game to make it a final 4-1 Oklahoma City advantage.
The Sky Sox enter into game three of the eight-game road trip. Tomorrow's third game against Oklahoma City is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. MST at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Sky Sox return to Security Service Field for an eight-game, nine-day homestand on May 12 where they will host the Oklahoma City Dodgers and Memphis Redbirds. Dos Homers: The two-homer game for Rocky Gale on Saturday night is the 13th time an Oklahoma City player has recorded a two home run game against the Sky Sox (seven times in Colorado Springs, six times in Oklahoma City). The highest amount of hits by the Sky Sox ever at Security Service Field is 27, which was set June 8, 2005 against Fresno.
Extra Bases:  After totaling 28 extra-base hits over the last five games, the Sky Sox posted zero Friday night and just one on Saturday night thanks to Nate Orf's double. After totaling six extra-base hits Sunday and nine on Monday, the Sky Sox went on to smack eight hits for extra bases Tuesday night including four doubles (Broxton, Taylor, Orf [2]), two triples (Dubon, Wren), and two home runs (Bethancourt, Dubon).  On Wednesday and Thursday, the squad combined for five more.
