Dayton, Ohio - The Dayton Dragons are pleased to welcome the Dayton Area Firefighters to Fifth Third Field on Tuesday, July 30, when the Dragons host the Bowling Green Hot Rods at 7:00 p.m. Through this partnership and fundraising effort, half of every ticket sold will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to raise awareness and help combat this disease.
Pre-game festivities will include interactive tables and booths located in the plaza for all fans to enjoy! Activities will range from educational set-ups, such as an interactive CPR table, to more vehicle-oriented displays like fire and ladder trucks that fans can take pictures with. Sparky, the National Fire Prevention Association mascot will be on the plaza to greet and take photos with fans as well. Fans can also donate further to the MDA as part of the "Fill the Boot" campaign on the plaza area.
During the game, the Dragons will recognize affiliated family members and officers from the Dayton area fire departments and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. For the national anthem, the Dayton area Fire Department Honor Guard will present the colors. The honorary first pitch will be thrown out by Micah Archibald and his mother Kami Archibald who are a part of the MDA family. During an inning break, the Dayton Fire Department will hold a new recruit swear in for their 2019 class!
The Dragons are excited to bring Dayton area families, friends and colleagues together to enjoy a game while raising money for the International Association of Firefighters' (IAFF) largest national sponsor. More than 280,000 members of the IAFF in North America are pledged to saving lives, both through their daily work and campaigning for the research efforts of the MDA in eradicating roughly 40 neuromuscular diseases. This night is just one way the Dayton community can help contribute to an important cause.
