The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced on Aug. 15 that Chicago Cubs Minor League pitcher Dalbert Mosquea, who is currently on the roster of the Dominican Summer League Cubs, has received a 56-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Mosquea, 18, signed with the Cubs on June 29 and had appeared in nine games with the DSL Cubs Blue, going 0-3 with a 3.14 ERA in 14 1/3 innings. He'd picked one save and struck out 23 batters out of the bullpen before landing on the restricted list.

Stanozolol is a synthetic anabolic steroid derived from testosterone, commonly sold under the name Winstrol, and was banned by the International Olympic Committee in 1974.
