All-Star Fan Fest & Block Party Details Announced
Make your plans now to join us for All-Star Fan Fest & Block Party, the official kick-off events for 2014 Triple-A All-Star Week festivities! All-Star Fan Fest will take place Saturday, July 12 from 11:00am-2:00pm at Durham Bulls Athletic Park and will be followed by the All-Star Block Party later that evening from 6:00pm-10:00pm on Blackwell Street. The All-Star Block Party will be headlined by a performance from The Baseball Project, a baseball-focused rock supergroup featuring members of R.E.M. and The Dream Syndicate. Admission for both events will be free.
ALL-STAR FAN FEST (#AllStarFanFest)
On Saturday, July 12, the DBAP will open its gates for All-Star Fan Fest, a free event giving fans an all-access pass to the newly renovated home of the 27th Triple-A All-Star Game. Beginning at 11:00am, fans will be able to take batting practice on the field, get behind-the-scenes tours of the ballpark, and enjoy interactive games and exhibits celebrating North Carolina's rich baseball heritage. Young fans can visit inflatables, face painters, balloon and caricature artists, and interact with mascots from around Triple-A baseball and the local community.

ALL-STAR BLOCK PARTY (#AllStarBlockParty)
Later that day at 6:00pm, the celebration moves outside the DBAP to Blackwell Street for the All-Star Block Party. The main thoroughfare adjacent the ballpark will be packed with food trucks and craft beer tents and booming with live music. Headlining the evening's festivities will be The Baseball Project. The group, which includes R.E.M. members Peter Buck and Mike Mills, Scott McCaughey and The Dream Syndicate's Steve Wynn, is on Hillsborough, NC-based independent record label Yep Roc. Their appearance comes on the heels of the release of their aptly titled third album, 3rd. Also performing on Saturday will be blues/soul band Lockdown and alt-rockers Spaceship Days. Between sets, the Block Party crowd will be entertained by Fenway Park organist Josh Kantor. In conjuction with the All-Star Block Party, there will be a screening of the Bull City Summer feature length documentary film "Leaving Traces" at American Tobacco Campus' Full Frame Theater, also starting at 6:00pm.

The All-Star Fan Fest & Block Party precede the ticketed events of All-Star Week, which begin on Monday, July 14 with the Triple-A Home Run Derby. In that event, six premier sluggers from the International League and Pacific Coast League will take aim at Minor League Baseball's most iconic home run target - the DBAP's Snorting Bull. Two nights later on Wednesday, July 16, the Triangle becomes the focus of the baseball world and an MLB Network telecast, as the Bulls host the 2014 Triple-A All-Star Game.
