As the baseball world prepares for the Winter Meetings to begin on Monday, the Marlins reportedly completed the most anticipated trade of the offseason.
Miami agreed to send Giancarlo Stanton and $30 million to the New York Yankees for Starlin Castro and prospects Jorge Guzman and Jose Devers on Saturday.

The deal came after Stanton, who belted 59 home runs for the Marlins this year, refused to waive his no-trade clause for the Cardinals and reportedly made it clear he would exercise the same option to avoid being shipped to the Giants.
"The blueprint of the organization is we have to increase our talent pool at the Minor League level," Marlins chief executive officer Derek Jeter told MLB.com. "In order to be sustainable year in and year out, you have to have a pipeline of players that you're able to use at the Major League level. That's something we need to address as an organization. This allows us to add talent."
Guzman, a right-hander who turns 22 in January, was ranked No. 9 in the New York system. The 6-foot-2 native of the Dominican Republic was 5-3 with a 2.30 ERA across 13 starts for Class A Short Season Staten Island this summer, leading the New York-Penn League with 88 strikeouts over 66 2/3 innings. His fastball can reach triple digits, and MLB Pipeline rates it an 80 on the 20-80 scouting scale. He also works with a promising slider.

Part of the November 2016 deal that sent Brian McCann to the Astros, Guzman refined his delivery with the Yankees, but he projects to have closer capabilities even if he doesn't pan out as a starter.
Devers, who turned 18 on Thursday, is a cousin of Boston's Rafael Devers. In his professional debut, the defensively strong shortstop posted a composite .245/.336/.342 slash line with 16 stolen bases in 19 attempts over 53 games across the Yankees' Rookie-level affiliates in the Dominican Summer League and Gulf Coast League.
The deal comes two days after the Marlins acquired right-handers Nick Neidert (now their No. 4 prospect) and Robert Dugger as well as shortstop Chris Torres (No. 11) from the Mariners in exchange for Dee Gordon and $1 million international slot money.
