Idaho Falls fought back and scored a run in the seventh and a run in the eighth, but left the tying run in scoring position in the eighth. The Chukars got the tying run to second with one out in the ninth, but Roberto Delgado got the last two he faced to earn the save, giving the Brewers an 8-7. Helena is now 7-1 in one run ballgames.
The Brewers for the third straight night scored in the first inning, as Chad McClanahan launched a moonshot to right against Connor Mayes, giving Helena the 1-0 lead.
Victor Castaneda stranded five against him in the first two innings, but surrendered the lead in the third, as a leadoff walk to Kyle Isbel scored on a two out single from Jose Caraballo, followed by a double from Brady Cox, giving Idaho Falls the 2-1 advantage.
Helena's big inning came in the next frame, as the Brewers put the first five on, scoring four to take a 5-2 lead. RBI singles from LG Castillo and Jose Sibrian, along with an RBI ground out from Jesus Lujano highlighted the outburst.
But the Chukars wouldn't go away, cutting the Brewers lead to run with a two run fourth of their own, ending the night for Castaneda after four complete. RBi singles from Castillo and Pablo Abreu got the Brewers two back in the fifth, extending the advantage back to three.
Jenri Montas (W, 1-0 entered for the fifth and fired a scoreless frame, but with runners at the corners with two out in the sixth, a throwing error on a two out run down from Sibiran brought home a run and cut Helena's advantage to 7-5. However, Nate Eaton came to third on the play and overran the bag, getting tagged out on the throw back to the infield to end the inning.
After an Eddie Silva RBI single in the seventh got the lead back to three, the Chukars threatened to tie the game, putting the first three on and scoring a run against Tyler Tungate, With the tying run at first with nobody out, Peter Strzelecki got the next three hitters in order, stranding runners at the corners.
With a runner on and two out in the eighth, Caraballo smacked a ball in the right center field gap for a double, scoring Isbel to make it a one run game. Strzelecki then got Cox to fly out to center, leaving the tying run in scoring position.
Still an 8-7 advantage in the ninth, Roberto Delgado allowed a one out single to Andres Martin, who then got to second on a wild pitch. Offerman Collado grounded out to second, moving Martin to third, and Delgado then punched out Angel Medina to end the game and leave the tying run at third.
The Brewers head south on Interstate 15 for a three game series with the Ogden Raptors, the first place team in the Southern division.
