Hops Fall 3-0, but Take Series from Dust Devils

Pasco, WA (June 5, 2022) - For the second consecutive series, Hillsboro has won four-of-six games. The Hops have struggled on the road so far this season, just 4-12 coming into this series, but they would double that win total this week alone. In the series finale on Sunday, the Dust Devils shutout the Hops 3-0, marking the second time this season Tri-City has beat Hillsboro 3-0. Tristin English was the bright spot offensively, turning in his fifth two-hit game of the series.

Zac Kristofak started for Tri-City, after recording the loss in relief on Thursday. Kristofak only allowed one hit over three innings, while walking two.

Jamison Hill also made his second appearance against the Dust Devils this week, lasting four innings (83 pitches), allowing five hits and two runs.

The Dust Devils scratched across runs in the second and fourth innings against Hill. A pair of wild pitches and an RBI-Single by Edwin Yon in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the fourth extended the lead to 2-0, both times scoring Osmy Gregorio .

Kristofak was followed out of the bullpen by Smith (W), Guzman (H) and Donovan (S), who combined for six scoreless innings of relief.

A trio of Hillsboro lefties came out of the bullpen, Frias, Fisher and Larsen. Frias continued to pitch well, turning in his third straight scoreless appearance.

Former Oregon Duck star, Gabe Matthews, added on to the Dust Devil lead in the eighth with a solo home run off Larsen.

Seven different Dust Devils recorded a hit, led by Osmy Gregorio who was two-for-four with a pair of runs scored.

Tristin English was the only Hop with two hits, as he was two-for-four. English finished the series with 13 hits and five two-hit games.

Hillsboro (26-23) heads back home to Ron Tonkin Field for a six-game series with the Seattle Mariners' affiliate, the Everett AquaSox (21-29). Game one is on Tuesday at 7:05, with the pre-game show at 6:50 on Rip City Radio 620 and MiLB.tv. Important to note, 6/9, 6/10 and 6/12 are all 1:05 matinee starts.
