For three games this season, each member of the Tribe will get their wish when the Indians wear jerseys designed in the spirit of their big-league affiliate. The team will wear the special Pirates-Indians jerseys during Prospects Nights on May 5, June 2 and July 28.
"This collaboration wouldn't be possible without the partnership we've created with the Pirates," said Indianapolis Indians President and General Manager Randy Lewandowski. "They've been our major league affiliate since 2005, and we're fortunate to have a partner who values their prospects and respects our role in the game of baseball. These jerseys will be fun for both players and fans, and we thank Pittsburgh for allowing us to pursue it."
The jersey tops are black with yellow lettering and piping on the sleeves. They will be worn with white pants and black socks. The Indians wordmark across the chest is stylized like the Pirates wordmark on their jerseys. The hat is similarly designed, with the Indians arrowhead logo colored in yellow and black set on a black background with a yellow bill.
The jerseys will be worn only on Prospects Nights, which are scheduled for three games in 2018. Each night players will be signing autographs on the concourse before the game, and the giveaways will be bobbleheads of three of the Tribe's recent standouts. The player bobbleheads and dates are
The specially designed hats are available now for pre-sale at the Indianapolis Indians online store. Fans can also purchase a three-game Player Bobblehead Mini Plan that guarantees a bobblehead for each package purchased. Packages are limited to the first 100 buyers.
The first pitch for each Prospects Night game is set for 7:05 p.m. Gates will open early for pregame autographs at 5:00 p.m. Autographs will start at 5:15 p.m. Bobbleheads will go to the first 2,500 fans through the gates.
The Indians open their season on Friday, April 6 at 7:15 p.m. when they host the Columbus Clippers. Once again, the Indians will offer their Opening Night 60 Degree Weather Guarantee. If the temperate at first pitch is below 60 degrees, every fan in attendance gets a ticket to another April game of their choice.
