JUPITER, FL - The Jupiter Hammerheads (37-31, 1-1) snapped their four-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Clearwater Threshers (44-24, 1-1) on Saturday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. With the win, Jupiter also earned its first win of the second half of the season.

The game started as a pitchers' duel in the first three innings between starting pitchers Walin Castillo (W, 1-0) of Jupiter and Micah Ottenbreit (L, 2-5) of Clearwater as both teams were held off of the scoreboard.

After Castillo stranded two runners in the top of the fourth inning, the Hammerheads offense got to work in the bottom of the frame. Jordan McCants led off with his second triple of the season. Two batters later, Davis Bradshaw hit an RBI single to right field to give the Hammerheads their first lead of the series at 1-0. It was also the first time in the series that Jupiter has scored first.

Castillo finished his second career start for Jupiter with five scoreless innings and he allowed two hits and five walks while striking out two Clearwater hitters.

Jupiter would add a key run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Junior Sanchez led off with a walk and Bradshaw hit an infield single to put runners at first and second base which would take Ottenbreit out of the game. With Brandon Beckel on the mound for Clearwater. Brock Vradenburg flew out to right field which moved Sanchez to third base to put runners at the corners. Sanchez would score on a wild pitch later in the frame to give Jupiter a 2-0 lead.

Clearwater would get on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh off of Jupiter relief pitcher Luis Vizcaino (H, 1) when Pierce Bennett hit an RBI single to drive in Avery Owusu-Asiedu from second base which made it 2-1 in favor of Jupiter. Juan Reynoso (H, 4) and Holt Jones (Sv, 2) would toss the final 2 1/3 innings for Jupiter out of the bullpen and shut the door on a 2-1 victory on Saturday night.

When Jupiter scores first, the Hammerheads are 26-7 on the season and they scored first for the first time since Sunday's double header against St. Lucie when they swept the Mets in shutout fashion for both games. Bradshaw led Jupiter offensively by going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Vradenburg went 0-for-2 with two walks which brought his season total to a league-leading 52 walks in 2024. The Hammerheads are now 6-5 on their 12-game home stand.
