Crow-Armstrong's grand week gets even grander

So far this season, Pete Crow-Armstrong has ascended to the top level of the Minor Leagues and posted a 20-20 season. And, oh yeah, MLB's No. 12 overall prospect also has launched four grand slams -- two in the past week.

Crow-Armstrong went 4-for-5 with a double and three runs scored on Sunday in Triple-A Iowa's 9-3 victory over Omaha at Principal Park.

In the sixth inning, the top Cubs prospect launched the grand slam 410 feet to break the game open for the I-Cubs. After taking a 94.3 mph fastball for a ball against righty Jonathan Heasley (Royals), Crow-Armstrong stepped into an 85.6 mph changeup and sent it over the right-field fence.

The 19th overall pick in the 2020 Draft, who collected his first Triple-A slam Tuesday night, opened his afternoon with his seventh double for Iowa (26th of the season). He also singled to right in the fifth and again in the eighth in his first four-hit game of the season (the third of his career).

Crow-Armstrong has been tearing the cover off the ball in September. The 21-year-old outfielder has compiled a slash line of .300/.317/.550, hitting safely in seven of nine contests this month.

For the season, Crow-Armstrong has slashed .283/.365/.511 with 98 runs scored, 82 RBIs, 20 homers and 37 stolen bases. Chicago sent him from Double-A Tennessee to the highest rung of the Minors on Aug. 1. He's collected hits in 34 games while contributing some web gems on defense as well.
